The bill that will enact the cuts has passed in the House, but the Senate is still working on it. There is a belief in state government that Extension means rural agriculture with little recognition of the wide variety of programs that Extension provides. She stated that the Master Gardener program saves the state millions of dollars, and it is felt that the program could be eliminated. She asked that everyone continue to contact legislators and to educate neighbors and friends about how valuable the Extension programs are.
