Lowering pH - Using Sulfur

Before applying sulfur you should get a soil test done (Soil Testing) or otherwise you will not know how much sulfur or even if any needs to be applied.   How much sulfur you apply will depend upon the current pH of your soil and is highly dependent on the type of planting you are doing.  For example, blueberries require a pH in the 4-5 range while asparagus requires a pH in the 7.2 range.  We recommend you follow the directions on the bag of agriculture sulfur you buy before application.  Agriculture sulfur can be purchased at your local feed and seed stores.  One brand is "Rattle Snake", so named because it is believed that sulfur will repel snakes.
