From May through October, a Farmers' Market takes place on Duke of Gloucester Street at Merchant's Square--adjacent to the Historical Area in Colonial Williamsburg. Vendors from around the area sell their seafood, vegetables, baked goods, flowers, and other items. The market is open from 8:00 am-12:00 noon every Saturday during the period. James City County/Williamsburg Master Gardeners have participated in the Williamsburg Farmers' Market since it began the summer of 2002. Master Gardener College provided lots of good ideas for our first year and MGs were at the market one Saturday a month from June-Oct. In 2003, we increased our presence to every other Saturday-beginning in May and going through October, plus planning for special markets near the holiday season.
